Apprenticeships
A programme that demonstrates competence to do a job to a national standard, with the required technical and Core Skills knowledge.

- They are practically based and assess skills, with the underpinning knowledge to do the job learned via the Vocationally Related Qualification or IMI National Qualification
Who are they suitable for?
- For those who prefer vocational training to academic study
- For those who wish to gain employment by starting a Modern Apprenticeship that covers the required technical & skill knowledge and demonstrates their competence in the work place
How do you get one?
- The Vocationally Related Qualification or IMI National Qualification and Core Skills are delivered and achieved at an IMI Awards approved centre
- A student is observed and assessed doing their job in the workplace to complete their SVQ
- A portfolio of evidence is gathered at work, while carrying out operations and tasks, with on-line assessment of skills
- A Modern Apprenticeship is typically completed in 3 years
