This is a level 3 qualification that the covers technical needs for today’s passenger carrying vehicle industry. It provides essential knowledge for diagnostic technicians in the passenger carrying vehicle sector.
It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following: Diagnosis and Repair of: Engine and Cooling Systems, Fuel Systems, Transmission Systems, Brake Systems, Steering and Suspension Systems, Electrical Systems and Inspection
Candidates also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in garages and maintenance depots.
The candidate’s knowledge is assessed by IMI Awards set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMI Awards set ‘on-line’ multiple-choice testing and by assessments set by the candidate’s centre.
