This is a level 3 qualification that includes the diagnosis and rectifying of vehicle components and systems after major accident damage. It provides essential knowledge for MET Technicians working on light and light-goods vehicles in all types of garages and dealerships.
It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following;
• Removing and reinstating mechanical and electrical systems and assemblies, following accident damage
• Removing and reinstating trim fitments following accident damage
• The inspection of vehicles
Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
The student’s knowledge is assessed by IMI Awards set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMI Awards set ‘on-line’ multiple-choice testing and assessments set by the student’s centre.
