This is a level 3 qualification which provides essential knowledge and skills for body builders working on a wide range of vehicle types in specialist body building businesses.
The learning programme involves learners studying theory and practical aspects, including the following:
· setting out and assembling body parts and components
· fabricating body panels and components
· MAG welding techniques
· Pre and post work inspections
· and optional unit choices of installing ancillary units and components, and further thermal joining techniques
Learners also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
This qualification also forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the IMI SSC Accident Repair Advanced Apprenticeship framework (for Body Building). When an apprentice has achieved a Level 3 Apprenticeship, they can then choose to broaden their education and training in other ways from this firm base.
The assessment of this VRQ is made up of 3 components:
a. IMI Awards set Practical Tasks
b. IMI Awards set Online Testing
c. IMI Awards set Written Assignment (Coursework)
