This qualification also forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the IMI SSC Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation Advanced Apprenticeship framework. When an apprentice has achieved a Level 3 Apprenticeship, they can then choose to broaden their education and training in other ways from this firm base.
This learning programme (Vocationally Related Qualification) is based upon IMI Sector Skills Council's National Occupational Standards for Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation.
This qualification has a choice of two job routes, either auto electrical technician or auto electrical aftermarket enhancement technician.
This Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) is for:
- school and college leavers who wish to join the automotive industry
- individuals (who are not employed in the industry) who want the opportunity to develop occupational knowledge and carry out practical tasks.
- and employees of the industry who are seeking to enhance and/or demonstrate their understanding of their work role.
This VRQ offers an ideal step to the Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ) for those who are employed, and wish to continue with their studies, as the knowledge at Level 3 meets that of the related VCQ. Achievers of this VRQ can use it as credit against the knowledge required for the corresponding VCQ.
The assessment of this VRQ is made up of 3 components:
a. Practical Tasks
b. Online Testing
c. Written Assignment (Coursework)
