Level 2 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Competence (VCQ)

This VCQ is an integral part of IMI SSC Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation Apprenticeship Framework.  Therefore learners (normally aged 16-25) who are keen to build a career in the industry can take this VCQ as part of the Apprenticeship framework. It is a work-based automotive qualification that assesses the competence and knowledge that auto electrical technicians require to perform their job role effectively on vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots.

This Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ) is based upon IMI Sector Skills Council's National Occupational Standards for Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation.

This VCQ is for:
- school and college learners on work placements/apprenticeships who wish to join the automotive industry
- and employees of the industry who are seeking to enhance and/or demonstrate their experience and competence in their work role.  (Experienced staff enter onto a VCQ programme at the level suited to their role and competence.)                  

The knowledge component of this qualification is also independently assessed via online testing. The tests are mapped to each knowledge unit's learning outcomes and assessment criteria to ensure coverage.  These tests are marked electronically by IMI Awards.
