Level 2 Certificate in Vehicle Fitting Operations (Specialist Tyre Fitting)

Qual Ref: 100/5575/7 (TY)

This is a level 2 qualification that includes the full range of routine tyre fitting procedures.  It provides essential knowledge for specialist tyre fitters working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist tyre depots.

It is a learning programme which provides students with the opportunity to study both the theory and practical aspects of some of the following:

• Inspection, repairing and replacing: 
   - high performance light vehicle tyres
   - commercial vehicle tyres
   - motorcycle tyres
   - plant equipment tyres
   - and/or industrial equipment tyres
• Carrying out light vehicle front wheel alignment
• Assessing and securing a roadside situation
• Identifying and agreeing customer vehicle needs

Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.

The student’s knowledge is assessed by IMI Awards set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMI Awards set ‘on-line’ multiple-choice testing and assessments set by the student’s centre.
