Level 2 Certificate in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations (Refinishing)

This level 2 qualification covers technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry, including basic repair and preparation procedures.  It provides essential knowledge for vehicle body and paint operators working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist body and paint businesses.

It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following;
• Preparing Panels to Accept Foundation and Topcoats
• Preparing and Applying Foundation Materials to Vehicles
• Repairing Minor Paint Defects

Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.

The student’s knowledge is assessed by IMI Awards set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMI Awards set ‘on-line’ multiple-choice testing, and by assessments set by the student’s centre. For further information and advice, please contact an IMI Awards approved centre.

IMI/Thatcham Bodyshop Technician Accreditation
