This level 2 qualification covers a business administration role whose primary responsibility is to provide administration support to more senior members of the administration team. It aims for candidates to gain knowledge and understanding of the workings of a busy office environment’s practices and systems. The qualification is flexible and transferable and can therefore be used by any sector, not just the motor industry.
It is based upon the Council for Administration National Occupational Standards (2007) and its structure is designed to compliment the NVQ. It is also endorsed as a level 2 technical certificate within the CfA Business Administration Apprenticeship.
It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:
• Carrying Out Your Responsibilities at Work
• Working Within Your Business Environment
• Working Effectively With Other People
• Maintaining Customer Relations
• Managing Diary Systems
• Organising Business Travel and Accommodation
• Dealing with Visitors
• Storing, Retrieving and Archiving Information
• Researching and Reporting Information
• Organising and Supporting Meetings
• Using IT Systems and Software
• Using a Telephone System
• Operating Office Equipment
• Producing Text and Documents
Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
The student’s knowledge is assessed by IMI online tests set and marked by the IMI, and centre devised assessments marked by the approved centre and moderated by the IMI.
Individuals achieving this Level 2 VRQ can progress onto an Administration Level 2 NVQ, if working in a suitable role.
This qualification is endorsed as technical certificate at Level 2 and forms an integral part of the CfA Apprenticeship in Business and Administration. Therefore students (normally aged 16-25) who are keen to build a career in the industry can progress within the framework. When a Level 2 Apprenticeship is completed, an apprentice employed in a suitable role, can move onto a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.
