Level 1 Award in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Lift Truck) (VRQ)

This learning programme provides the essential knowledge for service technicians working on a range of lift trucks in all types of workshops, customer sites and maintenance depots.

The qualification covers the basic technical needs for today's industry:

• All aspects of health & safety
• Maintaining positive relationships
• Foundation skills
• Basic lift truck layout
• The routine servicing all types of lift truck
• Basic operating principles of lift truck systems: engines, transmissions, drive axles, mechanical handling equipment and 12 volt lift truck electrical and electronic systems (batteries, starting & charging)

The qualification is assessed using on-line multi-choice testing and a range of off-the-job assessments. 50% is assessed in a practical workshop environment. For further information and advice, please contact an IMI Awards approved centre.
