Level 1 Award in Vehicle Fitting Operations (Tyre Fitting) (VRQ)
Qual Ref: 100/5574/5 (TY)
This is a level 1 pre-apprenticeship qualification that includes basic processes and principles and foundation skills. It provides essential knowledge for specialist tyre fitters working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist tyre depots.
It is a learning programme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:
- Receiving and Storing Stock
- Inspecting, Repairing and Replacing Standard Light Vehicle Tyres and Commercial Vehicle Tyres
Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
The student’s knowledge is assessed by IMI Awards set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMI Awards ‘on-line’ multiple-choice testing and assessments set by the student’s centre.
