DAF's 15-year achievement

The DAF Trucks national dealer apprentice programme celebrated 15 years of training more than 1,000 apprentices at this year's awards event in Bristol.

Commented Aftersales Service Manager - Tony Shepherd: "We have a fantastic partnership with our managing agents Skillnet, our dealer network and the City of Bristol College. This is reaffirmed by our retention rates of apprentices once they complete their course, which have risen to around 80 per cent in recent years."

The awards were presented by Ray Ashworth, Managing Director of DAF Trucks, to:

First Year - Chris Archer - Imperial Commercials Stoke. Shane Marrows - Ford & Slater, Kings Lynn. Karac Scott. Adams Morey, Salisbury.

Second Year - Ben Watson - Barnes DAF, Shoreham. Ben King - Wessex DAF, Newton Abbot. Ross Humphries - Cardiff DAF Truck Centre.

Third Year - Darren Raines - Chatfields of Sheffield. John Norton - Chatfields of Sheffield. Ricky Treloar - Wessex DAF, Newton Abbot.

The award for "biggest improver" during the last at college went to Neil Rumley from Comprehensive Commercial Services in King's Langley.

The event also featured 14 graduates who had achieved the IMI Certificate in Management. One of them, Liam Dickinson, from North West Truck Services in Huyton, also received an outstanding achievement award from Alan Mackrill - Managing Director of IMI Awards.
