The IMI Group of Companies coat of arms appears prominently on certificates awarded by IMI Awards and is used as the authoritative stamp or signature.

A major honour, it was originally received by The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) in 1955 when the College of Heralds granted arms to the Institute. The Armorial bearings represent the work of the Institute in Heraldic terms.
