As a provider of Functional Skills, please find below an update from Skillsfirst regarding special considerations in light of the tragedy in Manchester this week.
"We are conscious many learners and tutors/assessors may have been affected by the tragic events in Manchester on Monday evening.
Where learners have sat Functional Skills exams today , or will be sitting a Functional Skills exam in the coming days, it is the Head of Centres' responsibility to decide whether the performance of any of your learners has been negatively affected by the disruption. If so, you should consider applying for special consideration.
Please note, the decision to what special consideration is, or is not appropriate, is for Skillsfirst to make."
Please follow the link on the right-hand side of the page through to the Skillsfirst Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations Policy for information. Please note that, under normal circumstances, special consideration for an on-screen Functional Skills exam must be submitted to Skillsfirst within 24 hours of the exam, or 5 working days following paper-based exams. However, due to the extreme circumstances, the time limit has been extended from 24 hours to 48 hours.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected.
